Edward’s Diary Entry 114: What is the state of a person experiencing S-A 3 or S-A 3+?

A person experiencing what we call S-A 3 or S-A 3+ is generally quite joyous. Life is seen as a joyous process. Many mental obstacles to joy have been eliminated. Suffering is seen to come from a mind misaligned with Reality. So the mind has been readjusted to accept Reality. There is very little to complain about, as everything has an explanation. It is the acquired societal mind-stuff and our identification with it that creates pain and suffering. One’s Awareness sees this, and keeps busy with the present, so there is no dwelling on or fixation with the past, on past hurts, pains and suffering; or on selfish picturing of the future. There has been learning from the past, and that has brought freedom in the present.

There is purpose and there is planning, along with freedom to adapt. Many of the so-called “problems” of life have been overcome. For what is a problem, except what the original meaning meant? A pro-ballein, ie, something thrown before someone, a question, a thing put forward... And as such, it is easy to solve it, sidestep it, jump over it, or go round it. It’s just a rock along the way. Self-knowledge has deepened and one knows more about one’s physical and mental make-up. Every challenge is used as an opportunity for growth.

Thinking has been analysed, and there is seen to be a logical way to proceed with one’s thinking process. There are still many things going on in the mind, as the mind is still wild and monkey-ish, but a degree of control has been achieved. A certain calmness and serenity comes with the proper ordering of the thinking process. And as right thinking adjusts to reality, so do subsequent emotions and feelings. There are fewer surges of negative emotions produced by wrong thoughts. Many of the so-called “negative” emotions have disappeared, and one’s emotional life is touched by the “positives”, corresponding to a wiser philosophical outlook. There is generally more virtue than vice.

Awareness is more present in daily life. This Awareness looks at the Reality around one and sees things in a truer light. The time for living is now, in every single moment. Little things formerly unnoticed seem important. Sounds, sights, sensations, views and natural things look more beautiful and acquire more importance. There is a greater connection or feeling of oneness with nature, with plants, trees and animals, and occasionally even for people, depending on one’s basic temperament or personality type.

This has all required action, activity, exercise, practise. It is not the fruit of book-learning, or believing in any system or organisation. It has taken time: time for looking inward into the darkness, into the occasional stillness; time for sitting, time for breathing, time for walking and time for seeing and sensing. Time and effort of a gentle kind, walking the knife’s edge of either being Aware or of Going with the Flow. And the choice is always there. If we are more Awareness than Thought and Emotion, it is Awareness we need to cultivate and cherish. And the deeper we go, the better it gets. The sun is slowly starting to rise over the horizon...
